The aroma of baking apples with cinnamon and butter brings back memories of apple pie... here is the new and improved Paleo version of maple apple crisp.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Combine all the ingredients for the crumble topping and rub the butter into the flour with your fingers until the mixture resembles a rough crumble.
    ½ cup almond flour, ½ cup coconut flour, 3 tbsp. unsweetened, ½ cup ghee or butter, 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • Combine all the filling ingredients in a separate bowl and mix well.
    4 Granny Smith apples, 1-2 tbsp. maple syrup, 1 tbsp. coconut flour, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, Pinch of salt
  • Transfer the filling to oven-proof ramekins and top with a generous amount of crumble mixture.
  • Cover with foil and place in the oven. Allow to bake for 20 minutes or until the apples are cooked.
  • Remove the foil and allow the crumble to bake until golden brown (approximately 10 minutes longer).
  • Remove from the oven and serve with a scoop of Paleo vanilla ice cream, optional – but highly recommended.
