Star Anise And Cinnamon Red Cabbage Slaw Recipe

Traditional store-bought coleslaw is a non-Paleo dish, but you can substitute with this dry, spicy-sweet slaw without giving up any of the flavor.

  • Melt some cooking fat (about ½ tbsp.) in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Cook and stir the onion until soft and fragrant, about 5 to 6 minutes.

  • Add the star anise and cinnamon; pour in the apple cider vinegar.

  • Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the cabbage and apples; season to taste with salt and pepper. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Remove the cinnamon and star anise; serve warm or cold.
