This colorful salad mixes lobster with fresh grapefruit and slices of avocado; all tossed with a bright citrus vinaigrette.
It’s a bit fancier than something you’d throw in a Tupperware and take to work, but if you want a healthy special-occasion meal without a huge amount of labor-intensive prep time, this recipe has your back.
Lobster doesn’t typically get thrown around when we’re discussing the health benefits of fish, mostly because, in practical terms, it’s not an affordable everyday choice for most people.
But it definitely does count as a healthy indulgence: it’s rich in protein, selenium, zinc, and Omega-3 fats. And, of course, the avocado isn’t exactly a slacker in the nutrition department, either!
You could easily replace the grapefruit with any other citrus fruit here. Blood oranges have a dramatic color, and they’re just coming into the season as the weather gets colder. Or dig into the increasing variety of ordinary oranges and grapefruits and see what you like.
Grapefruit And Lobster Salad Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 lb. lobster meat, pre-cooked
- 1 grapefruit, peeled and segmented
- 1 avocado, pitted, peeled, and sliced
- 2 to 3 cups mixed greens
- 1 shallot, minced
- 1 tbsp. fresh chives, minced
- 2 tsp. fresh grapefruit juice
- 4 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp. white wine vinegar
- Fresh dill
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the grapefruit juice, white wine vinegar, olive oil, shallot, chives, and salt and pepper to taste. Whisk together until smooth.
- Add the lobster meat to the dressing, and toss gently until well coated.
- In a salad bowl, combine the mixed greens, avocado, and grapefruit, and toss gently.
- Plate the salad and top it with the lobster, dressing, and fresh dill.
