    Chipotle-Seasoned Chicken Wings Recipe

    A great chicken wing recipe is the perfect thing to prepare for a ton of events – nights in with family, pot-lucks with friends, and even enjoying time outdoors. There are a bunch of different ways to prepare chicken wings, but if you are looking for a sweet and spicy flavor, this is the recipe for you.

    Chipotle-Seasoned Chicken Wings

    In this dish, you’ll be prepping a spicy-sweet chipotle sauce to coat your wings with and prepping as you normally would. There’s a lot of flexibility available here – feel free to increase or decrease the amount of chipotle powder to your heat preferences.

    While this recipe calls for the inclusion of honey and buffalo sauce, these can be omitted as needed, especially if you are avoiding sweeteners in your diet.

    You’ll see that there are quite a few spices included in this recipe – chipotle powder, paprika, cumin, and others. The great thing about spices is that they don’t just add flavor; they also offer a variety of health benefits when consumed in moderation.

    When you purchase spices, remember that freshness is key. While they often have an advertised shelf-life of months or longer, once spices are opened, they become subject to moisture and other things that can degrade their flavors. Make sure you store spices correctly to keep them fresh for as long as possible.

    Ingredients

    • 2 lbs. chicken wings
    • 1 tbsp. chipotle powder
    • 1 tsp. cumin
    • 1 tsp. paprika
    • 1 tsp. onion powder
    • 1 tsp. garlic powder
    • ¼ cup raw honey (optional)
    • ¼ cup buffalo sauce (optional)
    • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Preparation

    1. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
    2. In a bowl, combine the chipotle powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder; season with salt and pepper to taste.
    3. Sprinkle the spice mixture all over the wings, making sure to coat them evenly.
    4. Place the wings on the grill and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, turning every 5 to 6 minutes.
    5. If using, combine the buffalo sauce and honey in a bowl.
    6. Brush the wings with the buffalo-honey mixture and cook another 5 to 8 minutes, turning halfway through.
