spicy “bat” wings would make a great addition to a Halloween feast. Blueberry jam might sound like a pretty strange ingredient to put on chicken wings, but combined with the hot sauce and the lime juice, it gives you a bright, sweet-spicy effect that works really well for kids. And the darker color of the jam also helps get the wings a little darker and bat-like.
The marinating is optional, but it also helps to deepen the color of the wings and get the flavor all the way through the meat.
The broiling helps with that, too though, so even if you don't marinate, you'll still get at least some dark-brown coloring on the top.
If you’re serving these to kids, you could fasten two wings together with toothpicks to make a complete “bat” or try to see how long you can keep them believing that they’re actually eating a bat (who said playing tricks was just for the costumed crowd?).
Of course, you could also serve these for a completely non-Halloween-related occasion – they’re tasty even without the theme and great for a simple, kid-friendly recipe that doesn’t take a lot of laborious prep.
