Keto Chipotle And Lime Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce is simply irresistible when it comes to a festively laid table full of your holiday favorites. It is one of those things you could eat year round, were it available, but like egg nog, you have to enjoy it when it does come around at the end of the year. Even on a keto diet you can still jump right into the tartness of cranberry sauce – with lime and chipotle it is that much more special. Perhaps it will become a new holiday treasure?

This year, instead of using the regular granulated sugar which most cranberry recipes call for, you will be replacing that with a keto-approved sweetener. Swerve is a natural sweetener made from a combination of erythritol and oligosaccharides, which, in turn, are derived from fruits and vegetables. There is nothing artificial about it, nor does it contain preservatives, or affect your blood sugar. If you have been on the lookout for a low-carb sweetener, this is a good choice, however you may also choose stevia, coconut palm sugar or raw honey – though those will slightly alter the flavor of your sauce and up your carb intake.

In any case, cranberry sauce must be on your holiday menu as it is expected to go with leftover turkey. You can also make a bowl to sit alongside salt and pepper pork belly, and of course keto stuffed pork tenderloin. It’s time to make new food memories with the help of keto cranberry sauce!

  • 12 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup Swerve Sweetener, or to taste
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 to 2 chipotle peppers in adobo, minced
  • Juice and zest of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup granulated stevia/erythritol blend, or to taste
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt

Cranberry Sauce Preparation


  1. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to light simmer, and let simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. If the sauce is too thick, add 2 tablespoons of water at a time.
  4. Let the sauce simmer until the cranberries pop, and the sauce gets smoother.
