    Hawaiian-Style Burgers Recipe

    Crunchy grilled bell pepper rings and sweet pineapple slices add some tropical flair to a plate of easy grilled burgers: if you’re getting a little tired of the same-old ketchup/mustard/pickle routine, you’ve got to try this one.

    Hawaiian-Style Burgers

    Instead of the typical beef or turkey patties, this one uses a beef/pork mixture for an extra-juicy burger and a slightly different take; together with the sweet toppings, the effect is delicious.

    To make the burgers, you could just as easily use 1 ½ lb of ground pork with no beef – it just depends on what flavor you like. And if you don’t have any ham, there’s always a homemade fix for that!

    These burgers are perfect for a cookout where you might be wondering what to do without a bun – the big pile of toppings gives you a great presentation and looks so good on top of the burger that any thoughts of missing bread fade into the background.

    Add some condiments – spicy mayo or fresh guacamole would be perfect – and maybe a simple, fresh salad for an easy meal that you’ll be dying to sink your teeth into.

    Hawaiian-Style Burgers Recipe

    SERVES: 4 PREP: 15 min COOK: 15 min

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb. ground pork
    • ½ lb. ground beef
    • 8 slices of ham
    • 1 pineapple, sliced
    • 1 bell pepper, roasted and sliced
    • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Preparation

    1. Preheat your grill to high heat.
    2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork and season to taste.
    3. Shape the meat into patties.
    4. Grill the patties on the preheated grill for 4 to 5 minutes per side.
    5. Toss the pineapple and ham on the grill, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side.
    6. Assemble the burgers by layering pineapple, patty, ham, and bell pepper.
