It is written in the stars - delicious low-carb tacos are destined to become one of your speediest, most favorite go-to meals ever produced in your kitchen.

In less than 30 minutes, you will have a meal worthy of ultimate praise, as diners will be asking for another bite with a dollop of fire-roasted salsa.

Lettuce wrap tacos are a Mexican-inspired dish that everyone knows and loves; we've simply made it healthier, by eliminating the corn tortilla in favor of fresh Romaine lettuce leaves. Call it Keto if you wish; we just call it plain delish.

Ground beef is the classic base ingredient, but it is really the seasoning that makes a perfect taco. We highly encourage you to make your own to keep it Paleo-compliant. Have you read the ingredients on a store-bought package of taco seasoning?

Look closely, they sometimes contain traces of sugar, flour, wheat, soy, milk, artificial additives, and other preservatives. You've left all those "foodstuffs" behind for a reason, don't falter on the taco seasoning front!

It is super easy to make your own with spices you know and trust: 2 tsp. chili powder, 1 ½ tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. onion powder, ½ tsp. each of garlic powder, cumin, and dried oregano.

Once you've had enough of taco wraps (trust us, it is going to take quite some time!) then, you can move on to other taco-inspired recipes. Keto taco pie is absolutely wonderful for starters, Paleo taco soup is another tasty way to increase your taco intake.

    Lettuce Wrap Tacos Recipe

Serves: 4 Prep: 20 min Cook: 12 min

    Ingredients

    • 1 ¼ lbs. ground beef
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 Tbsp. taco seasoning, (or make your own: 2 tsp. chili powder, 1 ½ tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. onion powder, ½ tsp. each of garlic powder, cumin, and dried oregano)
    • 1 large tomato, diced
    • 1 avocado, diced
    • Romaine lettuce leaves, for serving
    • Cooking fat
    • Salt and pepper

    Preparation

    1. Add some ghee to a pan that has been preheated to medium-high heat.
    2. Add half the onion and cook for about 5 minutes.
    3. Add the beef and taco seasoning; season to taste.
    4. When the beef is cooked, prepare the individual tacos by distributing the meat equally on 8 lettuce leaves. Top with the remaining onion, tomato, and avocado.
