    Dark Chocolate Frittata

There’s something delightfully rebellious about the idea of chocolate for breakfast. Indulging in that first bite as sunlight streams through your kitchen windows, you might just find that the day starts a little sweeter. The frittata, a traditionally savory dish, meets this indulgence head-on in a decadent union of rich cocoa and protein-rich eggs. Imagine the rich creaminess of a chocolate dessert but guiltlessly crafted as a nutritional powerhouse. This isn’t just an ode to chocolate; it’s a celebration of the frittata’s versatility and health benefits.

The dark chocolate frittata isn't an island; it’s a bastion of tastes waiting to be complemented. A fresh Breakfast Salad can provide a much-needed contrast to the frittata's richness, alternatively, Tomato Cucumber Gazpacho can add a creamy component, making for a harmonious plate.

    Ingredients

Serves: 4 Prep Time: 7 minutes Cook Time: 7 minutes

    • 8 eggs
    • 4 tablespoon cocoa powder
    • 4 tablespoon dark chocolate chips
    • 12 strawberries, sliced
    • Cooking fat

How to Make Dark Chocolate Frittata

    Preheat your oven broiler.

In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the cocoa powder.

Heat a non-stick oven-proof skillet over a medium heat, add some cooking fat and pour the egg mixture into the skillet.

Cook the frittata until the bottom is set, about 5 minutes.

Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips on top and place the skillet under your preheated oven broiler until the chocolate chips are melted.

Serve the frittata sliced into wedges and topped with the strawberry slices.
